General Lawn Care

A.

Grass Mowing: Each type of grass has a height range that should be correctly mowed to. Cut to the right height, the grass will be healthier, look better, and most importantly, last through the season without drying out. A properly cut lawn not only gives it a greener, healthier quality, but save money and water.

Recommended Grass Height: Grass height depends on the type or variety of grass you have planted in your yard. A basic rule is don't remove more than one-third of the grass top at any one cutting.

St. Augustine: 2.5 - 4.0"

Centipeed 1.0 -3.0"

Zoysia: 0.5 - 2.0"

Common Bermuda: 1.0 - 2.0"

Hybrid Bermuda Gras: 0.25 - 2.0"

Fertilizing the grass is an important part of lawn maintenance as well. It will benefit most from multiple applications of fertilizer per year. Spring fertilizing gets the grass off to a fast start, giving your lawn that rich green color.

Use SCOTTS BONUS S every change of season with exception in the winter months. From November to March use SCOTTS WINTERIZER BONUS S, and LESCO is another good product. 16-4-8 is the best. Apply at label rates.

Insecticide: TRIAZICIDE granules are suggested to be applied at each fertilization.

Weed Control in a new or existing turf it is vital to the health and overall appearance of the property. We know that a beautiful lawn gets most of its good looks from the fact that it is level, smooth and free from weeds growing up above the turf, and we know how to make that happen in your yard.

Watering: Set irrigation watering for early in the morning, 20 minutes per zone and preferably not at night as sometimes fungus can occur in sod especially in cool nights. Shady locations may require less water. Use good judgment during rainy seasons and if you have well draining soil or if soil holds water. Drip irrigation zones may require less.
